Abstract:
The article considers the role of environmental solutions in the development of the hospitality industry as an important component of the conception of sustainable development. The article is aimed at determining the prospects for the implementation of eco-friendly solutions in the hospitality industry of Ukraine as a component of the conception of sustainable development. The achievement of this aim necessitated the solution of the following tasks: to identify key environmental problems in the hotel industry and restaurant business; to examine the implementation of eco-friendly solutions in the hospitality industry; to develop recommendations for the integration of environmental practices into the activities of hospitality industry enterprises. To achieve the aim of the study, the following methodological approaches have been applied: system approach, where the hospitality industry is considered as part of a global system that has a relationship with the socioeconomic and environmental components of sustainable development; comparative analysis, thanks to which environmental solutions implemented in the hospitality industry of different countries are analyzed in order to identify the best practices and opportunities for their adaptation to the hospitality sector of Ukraine. The article analyzes the basic principles of greening the activities of the hotel and restaurant business, including energy efficiency, waste management, reduction of resource consumption and introduction of innovative technologies. Particular attention is paid to international practices in the field of sustainable development. Examples of successful environmental initiatives in Ukraine and the world, demonstrating the efficiency of responsible environmental management, are presented. Attention is focused on the importance of integrating environmental approaches to ensure the competitiveness of hospitality enterprises, conserve natural resources and support the socioeconomic development of regions. It is concluded that the creation of eco-friendly accommodation and catering facilities has a significant potential for the development of the tourism industry of Ukraine and contributes to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
