Abstract: The article studies the problems of ensuring sustainable development of enterprises. Particular attention is paid to food security, which is a fundamental element in achieving long-term sustainable development. On the basis of the research, the challenges faced by the food industry today are systematized. It is proved that sustainable development should become an integral part of corporate strategies of enterprises. Food sustainability combines nutrition, health and well-being of the natural environment, is a baseline for sustainable balanced nutrition, and aims to ecologize the entire food provision system. It should not contradict other important conceptions (sustainable production and consumption, food safety, food life cycle assessment). Attention is focused on the consideration that when introducing changes and carrying out the processes of transformation of enterprises, it should be taken into account that sustainable development of enterprises involves the inclusion of not only the economic component, which in turn involves profit, but also the environmental component and socially responsible practices in all business processes in order to achieve the goals of the enterprise in the context of ensuring sustainable development and meeting the interests of all stakeholders. The issues of the requirements of basic food safety standards and the peculiarities of the implementation of European standards of reporting on sustainable development by domestic enterprises have been studied. An algorithm for the introduction of changes in the context of the implementation of the principles of sustainable development in the activities of food industry enterprises has been proposed. An analysis of the risks that enterprises may face in their activities in an uncertain environment and globalization changes is also carried out. The relationship between the conception of change management and the conception of sustainable development is substantiated, their main characteristics and features of implementation at food industry enterprises are identified.
