Abstract:
The article analyzes the methodological imperatives of researching the Mediterranean market of tourism services, driven by its role as a recognized catalyst for the socioeconomic and cultural development of the countries in the region. It is noted that despite the variety of existing approaches to analyzing the directions of development in the Mediterranean tourism market, it remains one of the least studied issues requiring deep methodological consideration. It is shown that the selection of methodological approaches to analyzing the tourism sector in the Mediterranean should be based on an integrated strategy that encompasses historical, geographical, cultural, economic, and sociological aspects. It is substantiated that an interdisciplinary approach will aid in the comprehensive elucidation of the features of Mediterranean tourism and in the development of efficient mechanisms for managing the region’s tourism resources. It has been shown that the study of the essential characteristics of Mediterranean tourism within the framework of theoretical and methodological analysis should be based on: first, the historical and evolutionary foundations of Mediterranean tourism, which involves a comprehensive examination of the development of this sector through the lens of historical, socioeconomic, cultural, and geopolitical changes; secondly, a system approach to analyzing Mediterranean tourism, which considers all the elements and interconnections affecting the development of the tourism sector in the region; thirdly, the use of a dialectical approach that reveals the interconnections and contradictions among economic, social, and environmental processes in Mediterranean tourism; fourthly, the geographical-spatial method for studying Mediterranean tourism takes into account the characteristics of spatial organization of territories, tourist infrastructure, and natural and cultural resources, as well as their relationship with the regional environment. The necessity of creating a comprehensive and systematized classification of theoretical approaches, which will serve as an appropriate methodological instruments for both theorists and practitioners in the tourism industry, has been verified.

Keywords: research methodology, Mediterranean tourism, methodological instruments, historical and evolutionary development, system approach, dialectical analysis, geographic-spatial method.
