Abstract:
The article examines how the development of the circular economy is reshaping the architecture of international business, global value chains, corporate business models, investment priorities, and regulatory approaches. It is demonstrated that circularity has evolved beyond a purely environmental issue to become a key factor in competitiveness, resilience, and market access. In this context, the traditional «take-make-consume-dispose» product lifecycle is shifting; instead, the focus is towards aspects of regeneration and consumer-perceived value, such as eco-design, servicization, repairability, reuse, remanufacturing, digital material traceability, and the use of secondary raw materials. For the strategic orientation of a business, this entails a shift from maximizing short-term sales volume to managing the value of materials, components, and products throughout their entire lifecycle. Particular attention is paid to the European regulatory context, global circularity indicators, and the Ukrainian dimension of this transformation amidst the processes of European integration, the creation of institutional incentives, and the reconstruction of the national economy. It is substantiated that for Ukraine, the circular economy should be viewed not merely as an adjunct to environmental policy along with the conception of social responsibility, but as a fundamental principle of sustainable economic development, the reconstruction of infrastructure, industry, and waste management systems, and integration into new value chains within the international business environment.
