Abstract:
The aim of the article is to assess the financial stability of the banking system of Ukraine under martial law based on the analysis of the main indicators of its activity, identification of current trends in the development of the banking sector, as well as substantiation of the mechanism for stimulating bank lending as one of the directions for increasing the efficiency of the functioning of the banking system. The research used methods of analysis and synthesis, statistical analysis, comparison, generalization and graphical presentation of data. The dynamics of the number of banking institutions, the structure of assets and liabilities, liquidity indicators, capitalization, profitability and quality of the credit portfolio of the banking system of Ukraine under martial law were assessed. It was found that despite the reduction in the number of banking institutions, the banking sector maintains a high level of liquidity, sufficient capitalization, positive financial results and demonstrates a gradual decrease in the share of non-performing loans. At the same time, the concentration of a significant part of resources in low-risk financial instruments was revealed, which hinders the development of bank lending. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the substantiation of the mechanism for stimulating bank lending under martial law, which is based on a combination of State, regulatory and banking incentives and is aimed at activating lending activity without significantly reducing the level of financial stability of the banking sector. The practical significance of the results obtained lies in the possibility of using the proposed mechanism when forming measures to support lending to the economy and increase the efficiency of the functioning of the banking system of Ukraine. The prospects for further research are to assess the efficiency of the proposed mechanism and determine its impact on the financial stability of the banking system in the long term.

Keywords: banking system of Ukraine; financial resilience; martial law; financial stability; bank liquidity; problem loans; bank risks; bank capitalization.
