Abstract:
The article examines methodological approaches to evaluating the efficiency of environmental strategies for green logistics in the supply chains of trading enterprises. The study addresses the need to reconcile lower environmental impacts with economic efficiency and logistics service quality. The aim of the article is to develop an indicator system and an approach to assessing environmental strategy implementation. The research uses theoretical generalisation, comparative, system and process analysis, classification, systematisation, formalisation and the index method. The study is conceptual and methodological. An environmental strategy for green logistics is defined as a system of long-term goals, coordinated measures and resource provision. The article systematises strategies for transport decarbonisation, warehouse energy efficiency, circular resource use and sustainable packaging. Digitalisation is treated as a cross-cutting instrument for implementation and monitoring. The indicator system comprises environmental, economic, operational, technological and ESG dimensions. The proposed Green Logistics Efficiency Index (GLEI) calculation involves indicator normalisation, weight selection, calculation of subindices and weighted aggregation. GLEI is positioned as a diagnostic tool complemented by assessment of strategic target achievement and the relationship between outcomes and resources used. The approach specifies conditions for comparability over time and limitations of composite index interpretation. The scientific novelty lies in combining green logistics diagnostics, target KPI monitoring and resource analysis within a common assessment procedure. Practical applications include identifying deviations, adjusting environmental strategies and prioritising resources while maintaining service quality. Future research should empirically validate the approach, refine GLEI weights and interpretation thresholds, test sensitivity and assess the causal effects of strategic measures.

Keywords: green logistics; environmental strategies; supply chains; trading enterprises; efficiency assessment; GLEI; ESG; decarbonisation.
