Abstract: The aim of the article is to identify the factors driving the reconstruction and development of the automotive industry in Ukraine and to determine the mutual impact among these factors. The current trends in the automotive industry are summarized, including further electrification, the growing role of software in vehicles, advancements in autonomous driving, the implementation of 3D-printing, and shifting safety standards and regulations. For each analyzed trend in automotive manufacturing, its implications are demonstrated. The factors with the most influence on the reconstruction and development of the automotive industry in Ukraine are generalized. These factors include the security situation in Ukraine (the termination or continuation of the war with the russian federation), opportunities for integrating domestic vehicle manufacturers into EU supply chains, shifts within specific sub-sectors of automotive manufacturing, the investment attractiveness of the industry, borrowing costs, innovations capable of creating real competitive advantages, the increase in the minimum localization threshold for public procurement to 30% starting from January 1, 2026, the expanding expansion of Chinese supply chains (vehicles, key assemblies, and units), the growing role of on-demand planning, the depreciation of manufacturers’ production capacity, challenges with resource provision and logistics, the absence of key competitive differentiators or unique competencies among domestic producers, and a shortage of personnel, particularly specialists in specific fields. A force field for the reconstruction and development of the automotive industry in Ukraine has been constructed, demonstrating that only one factor within this field – namely, the increase in the minimum localization threshold for public procurement – promotes such reconstruction and development. Meanwhile, six factors counter this process, and five factors exert a complex impact on the automotive industry’s recovery and development in Ukraine. The mutual influence among the factors driving the reconstruction and development of Ukraine’s automotive manufacturing sector has been examined. The established set of factors has been segmented based on the criteria of each factor’s influence on other factors and its sensitivity/susceptibility to external influences, identifying micro-groups of factors according to the selected gradations for each criterion.
