Abstract:
The aim of the article is to assess the trends in the innovative development of Ukraine’s industrial sector under prolonged crises and to identify the challenges affecting the innovative development of Ukrainian industry. Within the framework of the research, an assessment of a number of indicators for the period 2018–2024 is provided, namely: the index of real industrial production; the factors restraining industrial production; the share of education and professional, scientific, and technical activities in GDP; the share of industrial enterprises that introduced innovations in the total number of industrial enterprises; as well as the amount of innovative products implemented by industrial enterprises. The presented indicators were assessed in the context of crisis processes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and hostile military actions on the country’s territory. To achieve the set aim, a quantitative analysis with elements of comparative sectoral assessment was conducted based on the selected indicators, and their dynamics were evaluated in the context of the innovative development of Ukrainian industry. As a result, a high level of resilience in the industrial sector was determined, which manifested in the growth of production levels in both cases. The assessment of the dynamics of challenges faced by industrial enterprises is also provided, resulting in a significant shift of the key factor hindering enterprise development from financial constraints to labor shortages. Additionally, an assessment of innovation implementation trends by Ukrainian enterprises is presented, revealing a declining trend in innovative activity, particularly regarding the share of market-new innovations. The obtained results contribute to a more fundamental understanding of transformational processes in Ukraine’s industry amid prolonged crisis processes. Potential directions for further research may include the assessment of regional development specifics in particular areas, the analysis of industrial sectors demonstrating the greatest resilience, and an assessment of opportunities for the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies in the context of post-war reconstruction.

Keywords: innovations, industry, transformational processes, crisis processes.
