Abstract:
The aim of this article is to provide a comprehensive study of the ethical challenges posed by the digitalization of higher education in Ukraine in the context of the ongoing war and post-pandemic recovery. The article examines the systemic nature of ethical challenges arising from the digital transformation of Ukrainian higher education during the wartime and after the COVID-19 pandemic. It is argued that the digitalization of the educational process is not merely a technical phenomenon but also shapes a new socio-ethical framework, in which the principles of trust, responsibility, and academic integrity are redefined. The article analyzes a set of factors determining the current state of digital education, including the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, infrastructure destruction due to military activities, unequal access to digital resources, cybersecurity risks, and the effects of uncontrolled use of artificial intelligence. The methodological foundation of the present study is a system-structural approach employing logical, comparative, and content analysis methods. An analytical model has been constructed that reflects the interconnections between technological challenges, ethical dimensions, and the transformative potential of digital education. The key crises and directions for their ethical resolution have been systematized, and the networked interactions of these factors have been presented. It has been demonstrated that the ethical resilience of digital education is determined not by technological innovations but by the level of moral culture in universities, their ability to establish policies of academic integrity and digital trust. Conceptual guidelines for the development of educational institutions have been proposed, including enhancing teachers’ digital competence, creating ethical codes for the use of artificial intelligence, implementing e-inclusion programs, and strengthening cybersecurity systems. The results obtained allow digital education to be interpreted as a strategic area of humanitarian modernization, within which technological efficiency must be harmonized with the values of autonomy, trust, and responsibility. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that its findings can be used to shape ethical standards for digital governance in universities and to develop national recommendations for the sustainable development of digital education in Ukraine.
