Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of contemporary challenges that have emerged in Ukraine’s labor market and education system under martial law, particularly due to the large-scale loss of young people as a result of migration, mobilization, limited access to quality education, and restricted opportunities for professional development. The aim of the article is to substantiate the necessity of the directions for strengthening the interaction between the education system and the labor market during wartime and in the context of Ukraine’s post-war recovery, taking into account demographic, socioeconomic, and labor challenges that will contribute to the resilience of the national economy. The study revealed a decline in the number of educational institutions and students, which negatively affects the formation of the labor supply both now and in the long term. The importance of strengthening the cooperation between education and the labor market is emphasized – this process should address the needs of the wartime economy as well as the preparation of personnel for post-war reconstruction. The article outlines the main State strategies and plans aimed at overcoming these challenges and identifies the directions for enhancing the interaction between education and the labor market to ensure the stability of Ukraine’s economy. These include the development of dual education, the modernization of internship programs in line with the trends of Industry 5.0, digitalization, and the green economy; strengthening collaboration between educational institutions, businesses, and communities; as well as promoting inclusive employment and rehabilitation for veterans and persons with disabilities. An important area is the advancement of STEM/STEAM approaches, which foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Education should not only adapt individuals to technological changes but also cultivate active agents of innovation. Furthermore, systematic labor market monitoring and employment forecasting will help align economic and educational needs, ensuring sustainable development and the formation of human capital.
Keywords: youth, education, labor market, economic stability, martial law.
