Abstract: The absence of a unified global approach to preserving natural potential and the pursuit of financial gain in industrial and economic activities, or the political ambitions of national leaders, creates conditions for negative climatic and natural changes in living conditions. The introduction of proper control measures and funding for environmental protection activities within the context of sustainable development should become a priority aspect of the political activities of any political leader, government, and parliament of the country. The study identifies the main factors affecting the ecological component of the planet that require resolution at a global level, as well as examines the financial aspects of ensuring environmental protection activities. It has also been determined that the present requires searching for new approaches and implementing reforms to raise awareness among businesses and the population of the planet regarding the environmental standards of production activities and product consumption. To avoid negative phenomena, it is proposed to introduce criteria of responsibility in economic and production activities, as well as in the consumption of produced goods by end consumers, which should become a universally accepted norm of behavior for everyone without exception. It is emphasized that administrative sanctions in the form of financial penalties – both at the national and international levels – are the most significant for businesses and any country; therefore, today this is one of the possible and effective measures to ensure the preservation of the planet’s natural habitat. The analytical materials examined during the research indicate that climate change and increased environmental responsibility should be a priority for the development of all countries in the world, as the current climate changes affect all aspects of human life and the biological diversity found on the planet.
