Abstract: The strategy of innovative development is regarded as a key tool for shaping and sustaining the competitiveness of enterprises. The content of the development strategy is specified as a set of long-term, coordinated managerial decisions that integrate the analysis of internal and external factors, goal-setting, the development of alternative scenarios, and the selection of the optimal direction of movement. The main allocated characteristics of the strategy are long-term focus, complexity: alignment of resources and processes, flexibility, adaptation to changes in the external environment, and a competitive orientation in the form of establishing sustainable advantages in the market. The historical overview reveals the evolution of strategic thinking from ancient Eastern treatises, such as Sun Tzu’s «The Art of War» and Machiavelli’s political reflections, to the classical school of scientific management by Taylor and Fayol. In the second half of the 20th century, corporate planning tools were developed by Chandler, Ansoff, and the BCG group, forming formal methods of strategic analysis. Further, M. Porter developed the theory of competitive strategies and the «value chain», while representatives of the resource-oriented approach (Penrose, Barney, Prahalad, and Hamel) substantiated the role of internal resources and competencies in providing long-term advantage. In the 1990s and 2000s, the concepts of balanced scorecards (Kaplan and Norton) and dynamic capabilities (Teece, Pisano, and Shuen) emerged, emphasizing the importance of continuous monitoring and adapting strategy to current conditions. The beginning of the 21st century has been marked by a shift towards innovative and digital strategies: «Blue Ocean» (Kim & Mauborgne, 2005) offers the creation of new market spaces, «Agile Strategy» (Rigby, Sutherland & Noble, 2018) adapts flexible management methods, and digital strategy (Westerman, Bonnet & McAfee, 2014) integrates Big Data, AI, IoT, and cloud solutions into business models. Additionally, the role of Lean Startup, Design Thinking, and ecosystem approaches is increasing. It has been theoretically summarized that modern innovative strategies allow enterprises to shorten decision-making time, enhance resource efficiency, and strengthen positions in a globalized market. Digital technologies lower communication barriers and mitigate management errors, promote the development of a flexible corporate culture, and open new paths for business development. Thus, it has been theoretically proved that the strategy of innovative development is an integral element in ensuring long-term competitiveness and the ability of an enterprise to quickly respond to changes in market conditions.
