Macroeconomic Dynamics Modeled in SDEM-2: Can Self-Interested Business Prefer Stagnatioin to Growth? (p. 14 - 17)

The growth of a closed economy driven by conflict of interests of two model actors, employers (business) and employees (wage-earners), is modeled in an upgraded version of the Structural Dynamic Economic Model (SDEM-2). System dynamic and optimization model setups are considered. It is shown that self-interested business striving to optimize its utility can choose a strategy leading to stagnation.

Kovalevskiy Dmitriy Valerievich – candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, senior research fellow, head of group, Nansen International Center on Environment and Remote Sensing (St. Petersburg, Russia)
