Competitiveness Rating of Ukraine and Ways to Improve State Support for Priority Sectors (p. 45 - 50)

The paper attempts to explore the causes of the low competitiveness of products from leading industries of Ukraine on international rankings after joining the WTO. Comparison of profiles of competitiveness of Ukraine, Poland, Estonia and other countries in the global competitiveness ranking reflects the unsatisfactory situation in our country. Generalization of the work of leading Ukrainian and foreign scientists shows the possible direction of a significant change in the system of state support for competitiveness within the European integration process. The author grounds the propositions of a conceptual nature to rethinking on existing practices of state support to priority sectors in the context of globalization. The experience of a number of EU countries, including the Baltic States, the experience of which turned out to be more successful than in Ukraine, in the framework of the WTO. On this basis, the author carried out a comparative analysis of their own situation in Ukraine and Finland's top five features. This authoring shows not only the lost opportunities of Ukraine in matters of active government support to priority sectors, but also provides a reference point in the main areas to replicate the experience of Finland.
