Section: Mechanisms of Regulation of the Economy UDC 330.311 Butenko N. V., Khalkovsky O. M. State Economic Sector: Current Status and Prospects for Development (p. 41 - 46)
The article is aimed to define the features of both functioning and macroeconomic management of enterprises in the State economic sector as well as substantiate on this basis objectives for its modernization. The contemporary characteristics of the State economic sector have been analyzed, which has led to concluding that it plays an important role in ensuring competitiveness of the national economy, has the national and strategic importance to the economy and national security. The State sector share in the GDP of Ukraine has been analyzed, the topic of an optimal balance between private and public property has been considered. Special attention is paid to the development trends of the State sector in the economy of Ukraine. Key issues of the State-owned enterprises in the main economic sectors in Ukraine have been identified, namely: electric energy, oil and gas production, transport, machine-building, foods sector and agriculture, chemical industry, coal mining.
